A new TV series is about to start production - Deadline Gallipoli - which will look at the Gallipoli legend from the point of view of war correspondents Charles Bean, Ellis Ashmead-Bartlett, Phillip Schuler and Keith Murdoch. It will screen around the 100th anniversary of the World War I battle next year.

Australian actor Sam Worthington will star in the series and is quoted as saying:
“This is a fresh take on the Gallipoli story, with these four journalists fighting the upper echelons of the military to get the truth out and stop the carnage. “I’m honoured to bring such an important story to audiences, in Australia and around the world.”

Phillip Schuler was one of Australia's pre-eminent journalists to cover the Gallipoli campaign, including the role of Lemnos in the campaign. Along with Charles Bean Keith Murdoch and the British correspondent Ellis Ashmead Bartlett, Schuler played a major role in crafting what would become Australia's Anzac legend. But he has been overshadowed by his more well-known peers.
Schuler took many photographs of Lemnos during the Gallipoli campaign which are now in the Australian War Memorial.
For the full story on Schuler and his time on Lemnos see our earlier post - Lemnos Hero - Philip Schuler

Let's hope that the new series includes Lemnos' role in Gallipoli.
